The “Chains” hitmaker, who is known for his chiselled physique, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago. In an interview with Us Weekly, Jonas shared that he was terrified when he was first diagnosed with the blood sugar disease, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
He said: "It was scary. The initial step was to learn as much as possible ... about carbohydrates and sugar intake, and how that would affect my levels. "I've had a couple of diabetic episodes. Most recently, I was walking home and out of nowhere I felt my sugar drop. I was in an elevator, luckily with a friend, when I started to pass out. I got to my room and got some juice and snacks to get my sugar up. It could have been very scary."
The singer added that “I live a pretty low-carbohydrate life. I wish I was eating pancakes all the time. That would be so much fun! When I do, it's whole wheat or buckwheat. I might have to take extra precautions, like checking my blood sugar, but I don't let diabetes hold me back."
