I am contemplating a smile change procedure. I want to know more about the procedure. Is it possible? - Meera S, Pallavaram
Yes, of course, it is possible to change one’s smile completely. We take a photograph of the person and analyse it to see what kind of smiles suits them the best. An artificial smile is created and fixed over their natural teeth. They have a new smile within a few days. In some, more gums are visible when they smile and in such cases, we correct that. Most of these corrections are done on the front teeth alone. - Dr B Lakshmi, Orthodontistcosmetologist
I am just 25 and already losing hair in the front. Is it abnormal?- Vinay R, Saidapet
Premature balding is largely due to poor diet patterns, lifestyle habits and when coupled with stress, excessive hair loss is inevitable. It is normal to lose as much as 100 strands per day, but beyond that, it is a cause for concern. I have seen boys as young as 11 years suffering from androgenetic alopecia. Androgenetic alopecia, a common form of hair loss prevalent among men and women, is also known as male pattern balding. This can progress to become partial or complete baldness. This form of hair loss is linked to hormones called androgens, particularly an androgen called dihydrotestosterone. - Dr S Murugusundram, The Hair Research Society of India
