- Ragini R, a resident of Kilpauk

If an individual complains of sudden weakness or numbness in his arms or legs, if you notice a deviation of the individual’s mouth to one side, it is important to rush him to the hospital without any further delay. Other symptoms may include acute loss of vision, the individual reportedly swaying to one side while walking as well as giddiness associated with vomiting. In such a case, the patient should be rushed to the hospital within the first three hours.

Iron deficiency anaemia is the most common type in the state. However, nutrition is not the only factor responsible for it. The common causes are inadequate dietary intake and/or low availability of iron in diet, deficiencies of vitamin B, folic acid, malnutrition, obesity and vitamin A, chronic loss of iron due to parasitic infestation. It can also be caused by excessive, heavy menstruation, low iron absorption capacity, childbirth, pregnancy and lactation, frequent blood donation.
