Work on Ikea Bengaluru store to begin soon
The Swedish single brand home furnishing retailer, IKEA is all set to open its second store in Mumbai later this year and would hold the ground-breaking for its Bengaluru outlet on October 11 following a riotous start of its first store Hyderabad which drew unprecedented footfall on the opening day in August.

“We are satisfied with the initial response and look forward to a greater long haul in India’’ John Achilla, MD of IKEA Telangana said. With nearly a million footfalls during the first eight weeks after its inauguration on August 9, IKEA has become a prominent spot with over 7,500 products, including 1,000 made in India goods on sales at the 4,00,000 sq ft store.
IKEA India Deputy Country Manager (Management) Patrik Antoni said that India had been a major sourcing destination for the company since last 35 years with nearly three per cent of the global sourcing coming from the country. It had nearly 55 suppliers from India. With an investment of Rs 1000 Crore in each store, the Bangalore store would be open by late 2019 or early 2020 he said.
