SLICE OF LIFE: ‘I want to save enough for my wife to retire’

I started working in a painting and construction unit when I was 20 years old. I did every odd job and was working as painter for about 30 years. A year back, when the business died down, I could not get as much as work I needed. That scared me. I switched fields and got a job as a security guard. Now, I am happy with my job.

I work for twelve hours a day and I get a regular, fixed income. It is a peaceful job as I usually work at events, where I must monitor the parking of vehicles. It gives me the liberty to spend time with my family -- my wife Lily, son Joseph (23) and daughter Angel (19). We do not watch movies, but we go to church once a week.

My goal is to get both my children married in the next few years and get them settled in their own homes. My wife works for an electric company. I am waiting for the day I turn 65 as all my responsibilities will be completed by then, and I will have enough savings to ensure my wife can quit her job and rest as well. I will retire and go to church on Sundays. That will be a perfect life.
