What is the need for the training?

There is a law mandating the State government to conduct training sessions for police officials, government officials, judges, lawyers and members of assembly and parliament. The personnel do not have clarity on the law and this affects the persons with disabilities.

    What does the law say?

Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 directs the government to develop human resource to implement the Act. Even though the Act came into effect two years ago, the State government is yet to conduct training sessions. We have written to the State government to follow the rules and conduct training sessions.

Why have you demanded the transfer of Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Department’s secretary and commissioner?

The secretary and commissioner refuse to meet PwDs and they are shunning away from their duty. The government should appoint officials who have compassion towards the differently abled persons
