20 sovereigns, two kg silver stolen from software professional’s house in Mogappair
At least 20 sovereigns of gold, two kilograms of silver and Rs 7,000 in cash were reportedly stolen from the house of a software professional in Mogappair on Friday.

The techie, Sunil (34), working in an IT firm in Taramani, was away at his native place in Tiruchy. The techie had left for Tiruchy on September 19. On Friday morning, his house owner, living upstairs of the building, came down and saw the door of the ground floor portion broke open. He immediately alerted the police as well as Sunil. A police team from Nolambur station went and checked the house and found the bureau open and articles scattered around.
Police later spoke to Sunil over the phone and he told them that he had kept at least 20 sovereigns of gold, silver and cash in the bureau. It is not clear when the burglars had gained entry into the house.
Police are combing the CCTV footage looking for some clues on the burglary.
Drunken man attacks 60-year- old for money
A drunken man allegedly attacked and robbed a 60-yearold man sleeping on the side of the road in Red Hills on Wednesday night, police said.
The victim Srinivasan, a resident of Vysarpadi, was sleeping on the footpath when Sadiq Basha, a person known to him, approached him asking money.
When Srinivasan refused to give him money, Sadiq alleged attacked him with stone and escaped with Srinivasan’s money. Srinivasan was later admitted to Stanley Medical College. Based on Srinivasan’s complaint, police arrested Sadiq Basha.
