Rat head found inside food in Arani restaurant; public enraged

CHENNAI: A rat head was found in a food parcel bought from a restaurant in Arani's old bus stand and in front of the hotel. The food samples are currently being tested.

The incident took place on Monday, when a family ordered food at a vegetarian restaurant on the way to Fort Playground next to Arani Old Bus Stop.

They allegedly found a rat head in they food when they were changing into a plate.

The hotel management came to know of this from a phone call, and they refused to visit the place, where the food was delivered .

Enraged over this, the family members and the team led by the local councillor K Vinayakam came to the restaurant with rat-headed fries and surrounded it and engaged in an argument. They then staged a dharna outside the hotel on the road, causing stir.

Arani city police, who got the information, removed the people involved in the dharna and took them to the police station and engaged in negotiations.

They, then, informed the authorities of the Food Safety Department. Food safety officials also went to the restaurant and took food samples for testing.
