RANIPET: A decade back, the hospital that was on the verge of shutting down, was re-established with the efforts of hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr A Suresh Rao by providing quality healthcare at affordable prices.
Revealing to DT Next, Dr Rao said that the accreditation would help our supporters understand that the government approves of our standards. He said, “The certification will ensure increased profit to the hospital, improved quality of healthcare for the patients and safety of medical professionals.”
Stating that the NABH tag has encouraged SMH to plan for improving services, Suresh Rao said, “The hospital will opt for the latest equipment with cutting edge technology including Rs 1.5 crore cath lab which will provide angiograms and angioplasty for patients at rates that will be the cheapest in Tamil Nadu.”
According to the sources, the hospital with 200 beds providing diploma and degree courses in nursing and 7 para medical courses, mulls to start a medical college in about 4 years. As the hospital needs upgraded amenities to facilitate a medical college, there would be various norms to be complied and would take time, sources said. However, Deputy Superintendent G Samraj said that the hospital also plans to construct a solid waste treatment plant for Rs 1 crore.
“A blood bank at Rs 3 crore, solar power plant at Rs 2.5 crore and MRI scan centre at Rs 5 crore are all on the plans afoot as the institution plans to generate funds from various sources,” according to Cecil Danile, senior administrative officer. A function would shortly be held to announce the accreditation in the presence of Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar and Ranipet MLA R Gandhi, it was said.
