India's 450 million youth can be positive force for development: Saraswat

Speaking after inaugurating a Youth Conference here last evening, organised by Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram in connection with the 90th birth anniversary of its Director and RSS ideologue P Parameswaran, who is also President of Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari, Dr Saraswat said the youth can make tremendous developments to the nation if they provided with proper education and guidance.

Calling up on the youth in the country to excell in engineering innovation, he said high innovation in manufacturing sector only could bring a sustainable development. Though innovative startup models are contributing to service sector, it could not provide a sustainable economic growth in the long term, he added.

The youths can effectively contribute to social reforms, sustainable development, social justice and human development. If they are not guided or chanellised properly, they could turn into socially disruptive force affecting values of democracy.

Over the growing economical gap between various sections in the society, he said science and technology could contribute to erdication of poverty, agriculture production and employment opportunities.

Pointing out that many foreign countries face inadequate human capital affecting investment and high unemployment rates among youth, Dr Saraswat said some countries are struggling currently to educate and employ their young people.

Stating that 300 million pople live below poverty line in India, he said two by third of the total population live in villages, which are facing a some kind of indiscipline in habitat system witnessing ruralisation of urban areas, not showing a good sign.

Speaking on the occasion, Prajnapravah National Convenor J Nandakumar, who delivered a speech on 'Emerging India' said India could win the minds of the world with its civilisational, philosophical and cultural strength.
