Renault sees demand surge for Lodgy from fleet segment

French auto company Renault’s Indian subsidiary, Renault India on Wednesday said it is targeting to close this year selling over 1,00,000 units in the domestic market. The company is also seeing an uptrend in demand for its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Lodgy from the fleet segment.

Renault India CEO and MD Sumit Sawhney said, “We just launched the Kwid 02. We are planning to launch the Duster Sandstorm prior to the festival season. We are also unveiling our fourth car, the brand new premium sports utility vehicle (SUV) Captur during the fourth quarter of the current calendar year. Captur has been accepted very well globally, with sales of around 1 million cars.”

He adds, “Our goal was to sell about 8,000 cars a month. We have sold close to 80,000 cars in the first eight months of the calendar year. We have also launched an app called My Renault, a one-stop solution for customers.” 

Renault India will ship its models to Bhutan and Bangladesh this year. Sawhney also said the company’s MPV Lodgy is seeing an increased demand from the fleet owners segment and this week, the company will start installing speed governors in the model.
