"We had expected a dip in sales after implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. But it was not seen.

In fact, the market has been growing steadily," Sony India Country Marketing Head Yuichi Hasegawa said here today.

"There is no depression in the Indian market and it has been growing. The demand for premium category high-end products of Sony is high," he said.

Stating that India is the fourth largest market for Sony products worldwide, he said the company is keen to develop it further.

Hasegawa inaugurated the first premium look Sony Centre in the North East region. This is among 18 such upgraded stores in the country planned by Sony in the current financial year.

There are 168 Sony Centres across the country, including three in Assam and one in Mizoram.
