Apparel brand gets funding of Rs 6.3 cr

Apparel brand Turms has closed a Rs 6.3 crore angel round funding led by city-based Freshworks founder Girish Mathrubootham, Bijou Kurien, former Reliance Retail Lifestyle President and Pepperfry founder Ambareesh Murty, among others.

Bengaluru-based Turms plans to use the funds to expand its product categories and range, hire tech talent, launch experience centres in top cities and also invest in R&D. The company claims to have seen significant traction in the last one year from new and repeat customers. It is expected to break even n the next 6-9 months. “Digital-first brands are creating immense value globally. Young brands like Turms are disrupting the apparel industry and creating a niche market for themselves by offering intelligent apparel. The company has shown exponential growth in the last one year while maintaining quality and consistency,” said Mathrubootham.

Founded in December 2016, the brand offers intelligent apparel with special properties like stain repellent, odour resistance, cooling and wicking by using proprietary nanotechnology during the production process. Unlike normal clothing, this apparel does not need frequent wash. The merchandise range includes jeans, shirts and track pants and leggings.
