Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday presented the Budget for fiscal 2019-20 and highlighted various achievements and welfare measures undertaken by the Modi government during last four-and-half years and said "India is solidly back on track".

Presenting his maiden and Modi government's sixth Budget speech in the august Lower House of Parliament, Mr Goyal said the country will embark on a route to New India by the year 2022 when India completes 75 years of Independence.

Under PM's new scheme Kisaan Samman Nidhi, distressed farmers who have seen their incomes stagnate because of plunging prices, will get a relief package of Rs 75,000 crore barely enough to pay for farmers' loans.

The package will include an income support scheme, in which a sum of Rs 6,000 per year will be deposited to farmers who own upto 2 hectares of land.

“Assured income to be transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer in three equal instalments,” Goyal said while presenting the interim budget 2019-20.
