Budget 2019: Mega pension scheme for unorganised sector

A a Mega Pension Scheme for the unorganised sector was announced by the Finance Minister as part of the interim budget speech.

An amount of Rs 3,000 per month will be provided to workers in the sector after the age of 60 as part of the scheme. Rs 500 crore has been allocated for the scheme.

As many as 391 million people will benefited from the scheme. The beneficiaries, who have their Aadhaar linked with their bank accounts, will get the amount directly credited to their accounts.

Presenting his maiden and Modi government's sixth Budget speech in the august Lower House of Parliament, Mr Goyal said the country will embark on a route to New India by the year 2022 when India completes 75 years of Independence.
