As per the agreement, ARPSL will manufacture a range of products for end consumers, while Schneider India will provide the back-end technology.
Another MoU was signed between the two companies to study the desirability and feasibility of a collaboration in the field of micro-grid with energy storage. Vikramadithya Gourineni, MD and CEO, Amara Raja Power Systems Ltd and Anil Chaudhry, MD, Zone President, Schneider Electric India, unveiled the offering in the presence of KV Chowdary, former Chairman, Central Vigilance Commission; Dr Ramachandra N Galla, Founder Chairman, and Jayadev Galla, Vice-Chairman & Co-Founder, Amara Raja Group.
Dubbed as an efficient solution for electrical distribution networks, the PSS range of package substations claims to offer a higher degree of safety compared to traditional civil works substations and reduced cost and time of installation, as per a company statement. Schneider has an installed base of more than 100,000 package substations all over the world. The substation has been readied for installation on site.
Chaudhry said, “Our licensee partnership model is to provide Indian manufacturers a technology aligned with the Make in India initiative, creating an effective ecosystem. This partnership allows us to expand our innovation and technology and establish our footprint in these fast-growing states.”
Gourineni said, “The package substation solution helps one to save on cost of land, but also removes the need for coordination with different suppliers, minimise cost pertaining to separate civil structures, cost of cable laying between equipment and transportation costs. Safety is enhanced and installation time is reduced by a substantial degree, when compared to commissioning of traditional civil work substations.”
“Considering urban land availability is at a premium, the PSS solution allows customers to get the same type of functionality as a traditional substation, but within a smaller footprint. It can be installed indoors and on rooftops as well,” he added.
