Tamil Nadu’s ‘Nambikkai Inaiyam’ in fruition stage
Tamil Nadu has made a head-start in the blockchain space. For, already three rounds of discussion have taken place to design a robust platform, Nambikkai Inaiyam (NI) (‘Trust Link’), to ease up the delivery of services.

The NI seeks to establish a “single trusted source of truth that will be used to create an efficient fraud resilient system for government processes. Such a system will directly benefit all citizens of TN.”
Last year, this initiative was formally announced by the CM. Now, it is taking shape with the TN e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) going all out in its efforts to roll out the platform. On Friday, TNeGA CEO Santosh Misra shared the progress made in this direction having brought on board the stakeholders at the design stage itself.
“Whenever we take up a project, we first identify a customer or a set of customers. This is what our platform proposes to do,” said Misra, as he sought to outline the intricacies of the blockchain technology that has caught the attention of other states too.
“Everybody is designing their own blockchain system in the country. We have to make sure that this system we design is able to talk to or meet needs of the other system, if we know of their existence. Even if we don’t know, if we are able to at least talk to the points or the potential customers… it could be universities or employers themselves, who could be verifying the documents issued by the TN government and its engineering colleges or schools or any government document.”
Misra elaborated “so, we need to talk to the customer to understand their needs. While designing if we incorporate those, it would be useful. NI is being designed with that in mind. We are talking across with the stakeholders. We have already had three rounds of consultation with the who’s and who of blockchain industry in India while some of them have been roped in from the US and Singapore.”
