It’s been only a few days since we reported that director-composer Gangai Amaran is planning to helm the sequel of his blockbuster film, Karagattakaran, which released in 1989.

Now, we bring you yet another exciting information as sources say that veteran comedians, Goundamani and Senthil, who played a huge part in the film’s success, will reunite for the sequel as well. The two comedians have acted together in more than 45 films and if this happens, the audience will get to see them again on screen after almost 16 years. A source close to the team tells us that the pre-production work is going on in full swing and both Goundamani and Senthil will continue their roles in the sequel. “The film might go on floors only after a few months as Gangai Amaran is busy with other commitments,” the source adds.

However, when DT Next contacted Goundamani for confirmation, he said, “I heard that the makers of Karagattakaran are coming up with a sequel. But I have not been approached for any such role as of now.” While Senthil wasn’t available for comment, reports suggest that he has agreed to be a part of the project. It is also worth noting that the story of Karagattakaran 2 will be centered around the life ofRamarajan’s (the hero of the original) kids.
