“It was during my school days, I played a lot of gully cricket and I was good at it. The song took me back to those days. The song was specially made for Men In Blue to bring the cup back home. I’m sure we will start the World Cup campaign with a comprehensive win against South Africa,” GV told DTNext. The song has its rap by GV Prakash and lyrics by GKB. “I posted a 20-second video of the song on Twitter and the full version will go on air before the match today,” he said.
GV Prakash, who started his career as a composer in Veyil has delivered several chartbusters for 13 years now. “My approach hasn’t changed since my debut. I ensure that my music should be futuristic. I was listening to the radio a few days ago and they played Veyilodu Vilayaadi during a prime-time show. That made me happy that the song to the audience is still fresh,” he added. GV’s upcoming film Ayngaran, directed by Ravi Arasu was certified ‘U’ last week. “It is a beautiful film that is inspired by real-life incidents. It is about how a young scientist doesn’t get patent rights for his research. Sivappu Manjal Pachai will release before Ayngaran,” he added. Apart from acting GV will compose music for Dhanush’ Asuran and Suriya’s Soorarai Potru. With half a dozen films as an actor and a couple of films as composer, does he ever say ‘no’? He smiled, “I can’t refuse projects that are really worth spending time and energy for. I have said ‘no’ to many films too. When I believe I cannot justify, or the content isn’t up to the mark, I don’t it.”
