“We titled the project as Sarbath because it gives out a feel-good-factor to people, especially those in the lower income group as they connect with the drink. Just like the drink and the first look poster, the story too will be colourful and soothing,” the director of the film Prabhakaran told DT Next. The story takes place in the backdrop of Chinnalampatti village near Dindigul.
“Like you would see in other rural films, the village and the characters will not look cinematic. The backdrop and the characters will look lively. The story is about a software professional going back to his village for a family function and what trouble he gets into forms the crux.
Soori plays a character artiste in the film who will be seen with Kathir throughout and hasn’t been a mere comedian. He has a proper character sketch. The film is also high on family emotions and values,” the director added.
Prabhakaran said that Kathir, who is known for his intense films, has pulled off a commercial entertainer well. “He plays a boy-next-door character, which is unusual but ended up looking tailor-made for the character. Vivek Prasanna plays Kathir’s brother andhas added value to the story,” he said.
Sarbath, jointly produced by Seven Screen Studios and Viacom 18 Studios, is all set to hit the screens soon.
