It meant that I’m just going to have to relocate at least half the time to New York City. We all had to relocate and obviously it’s for a reason. And the reason was this was a very good script.

Talking about the story revolving around his character, he said, “My character came up through the ranks. He was a beat cop. He’s a blue-collared guy at heart no matter what he’s learned and no matter what school he’s been to. And he’s very popular with the rank and file of the police force. So he proudly wears that uniform to ceremonies, to funerals, to openings, to dedications because he wants his men to know where he comes from. So I don’t see him running for office. Though he enjoys working, he said that he also misses his family. “Right now when I’m in New York, I miss my family very much. When I get home in Los Angeles because I commute about twice a month, I miss the show. And it’s very hard to leave it for the time I have off. But my wife is an actress, Jillie understands that. You do a lot of publicity. You do everything you can. You work every moment to make each show better because television is a work in progress. Our cast is kind of committed to that so it’s a little consuming right now,” he concluded.

Watch Blue Bloods season 9 every Wednesday at 10pm IST only on AXN.
