Vazh should have been my debut film: Arun Prabhu
It’s been almost two years since the release of director Arun Prabhu’s debut film Aruvi — but the film is still remembered for its hard-hitting content and screenplay. The firsk look poster of the director’s second film, Vazh, was recently out and it went on to garner good response on social media.

Bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan, the shoot of the film is almost nearing completion. Talking about it to DT Next, Arun Prabhu says, “Though we made an official announcement regarding this project only a few days ago, we have been silently working on it for more than a year now. In fact, Vazh should have been my debut film.” (he smiles)
Arun Prabhu says that his team began the pre-production work immediately post the release of Aruvi. “The script is quite complicated and it’s definitely not an easy process to transform it completely on screen. That’s one of the reasons why I took time. I narrated this script to Sivakarthikeyan many years ago and he kept asking me when I am going to work on it. And that’s how things fell in place.” Elaborating about the film, he says, “Vazh cannot be catego rised under any specific genre. The film will appeal to the global audience and can be related by everyone. A major part of it has been shot in unexplored locations and I am sure it will be one of the surprise factors in the film.” The film features newcomers in the lead roles, who had no experience in acting. “I believe that non-professional actors can add more value to this script. It has comeout really well and we are almost nearing the final stages of shoot.”
On working with Sivakarthikeyan, he says, “I have been his friend for years and it is he who motivated me to work on this script. I started this film under my own production house but later, Sivakarthikeyan came in and funded the project.”
