Maanadu shelved as STR reluctant to give dates?

It’s been almost eight months since director Venkat Prabhu announced that he will be teaming up with STR for a political thriller titled Maanadu. He even released the film’s first look poster, which garnered good response from the actor’s fans. A week ago, the makers of the film announced that the film will go on floors this August and Kalyani Priyadarshan was finalised as the female lead. A video clip of STR reading the script of the film was also going viral on social media.Now, we hear that Maanadu has been shelved due to various issues. Sources close to the film’s unit tell us that all is not well between the makers of the film and the actor. “Venkat Prabhu and Suresh Kamatchi, the producer of the film, have been trying to get the dates of the actor for a while now and he is yet to oblige them. Since the first schedule of the film was supposed to be shot in Malaysia, the team is in a pressure to sort out things at least a month prior to the start. But the actor had some disagreement with the producer,” the source adds.We hear that the makers have already decided to move on to another project as Maanadu is being delayed for no reason. Meanwhile, STR is currently shooting for a gangster flick with Gautham Karthik, directed by Narthan. He also plays a pivotal role in Maha, which has Hansika in the lead role.
