The actress after a year’s break will be seen in Kazhugu 2 as the female lead. “The film is not an exact sequel to Kazhugu. However, people still identify me widely as Bindu Madhavi of Kazhugu fame. Once Kazhugu 2 hits the screens, it will take my career arch to a high yet again,” she says. Talking about her role in the film, the actress says that she plays a girl, who works in the forest. “I cannot divulge the character as it will give away a lot of suspense. I would want you to wait till August 2 for the film to hit the screens and enjoy the thrill ride,” she smiles. The film was shot in the dense jungles of Munnar. Talking about the on-location experiences, Bindu says, “After every shot, we used to check if there were leeches or other insect bites in our body. Though it was physically demanding, the effort was worth it because of the content that Kazhugu 2 is packed with.”
The actress, who was been around in Tamil cinema for exactly a decade now took a break for a couple of years post Jackson Durai. She says, “All of us commit mistakes at a personal and professional level. When I came back from a break, I didn’t get scripts that compelled me to work on. I always had the urge in me to do good films. I reiterate that Kazhugu 2 will take my career forward.” She adds that she in fact turned down a couple of female-centric films because they weren’t convincing enough.
We also talk about production hassles that a majority of the films in K’wood are currently going through and how actors are being blamed constantly for not being flexible when it comes to remuneration. She says, “Actors tend to get blamed for not being flexible. But how many of them are aware of actors not being paid their remuneration on time? Most of the time, we only get part payments and still do not crib about it because we work passionately in a project and put our heart and soul in it. We want our films to release as well. However, it is easy for a few producers to point their fingers at us and walk away.” Talking about her upcoming projects, she says, “I am waiting for Kazhugu 2’s release to make an announcement on my upcoming projects.”
