Makers of Jayam Ravi’s Comali, who earned the wrath of Superstar Rajini’s fans post the release of the trailer, said that they have removed the scene from the film. In a video message on Monday, the producer of the film Ishari K Ganesh said, “Despite Comali’s trailer garnering positive reviews, a niche section of Superstar’s fans has expressed displeasure over a scene, which takes a dig at Rajini sir’s political stance. It is to be noted that I am a huge fan of Superstar myself and shared the screen space with him in 2.0. On Sunday, Kamal sir too had called me and said that he is disappointed with the scene. I assured him that the scene will be removed from the film.”

Jayam Ravi said, “I would like to make it clear that the element was included in a positive light. Being a hardcore Rajini fan, I am as anxious as any other follower of Superstar to see him embark on his political journey. However, we have decided to delete the scene from the movie.” Sources close to Superstar said that Rajini himself had a good laugh on watching the trailer and commented that cinema and politics are two different things and that the scene should be retained.
