Sethupathi wins Best Actor award at IFFM
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2019 has announced the winners for its annual awards ceremony. Actor Vijay Sethupathi has won the prestigious Best Actor award for his role as Shilpa in critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe.

The film, which was released on March 29, became the talk of the town for its quirky content and Sethupathi’s performance as a transgender. Interestingly, the film was also nominated under Best Film category at the festival. However, while Ranveer Singh-starrer Gully Boy won the Best Film award, Sriram Raghavan took home the Best Director award for Andhadhun.
Founded in 2012, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is a Victorian Government initiative that aims to strengthen ties between the Indian film industry and Victoria. This year, the award festival was graced by some of the popular personalities from Indian cinema such as Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie Shankar, Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, Sriram Raghavan and Tabu.
