‘My next film has touched upon the infamous Pollachi issue’

Talking about the film to DT Next, she says, “The entire story revolves around a young girl, who gets trapped by the miscreants on social media. It’s a message-oriented film and I have a lot of scope to perform. In fact, I have signed this project even before the release of Traffic Ramasamy. I am happy that the film is finally ready for its release.”

The film is apparently based on the controversial sexual assault case in Pollachi, which triggered a huge outrage in Tamil Nadu. “Some of the sequences in the film will be similar to the Pollachi issue, where the girl gains courage and fights back against the wrong-doers to protect her dignity. We are planning to release it in a couple of months, once the film gets certified.”

Upasana says that she has also signed a crime thriller, which is directed by a debutant. “I can’t reveal more details about it as its too early. But again, it is a performance-oriented film and my character adds a lot of value to the script. The story revolves around four guys and one girl who gets involved in a political issue.” She adds, “I have also signed another project, which I will be announcing in a few weeks.”
