Kangana Ranaut’s first look as Jayalalithaa in the late Chief Minister’s biopic Thalaivi created quite a stir on social media. The actress recently revealed that she had to take “hormone pills” to fit Jaya’s role. “The pills were needed, look voluptuous, especially around the belly and thighs. Since I am tall and skinny and my face is angular, not round, I had to take mild doses of hormone pills to look different. And of course, I also started eating foods that help gain weight,” she opened up.
The actress said that director Vijay wanted her to resemble Jaya as much as possible. “She had a hour-glass figure during her acting days as she was also a Bharatanatyam dancer. Then, when she joined politics, Jayalalithaa had an accident which demanded that she be injected with huge doses of steroids. While we could not depict all of that, we did take measures for me to resemble her during these phases,” Kangana added. Thalaivi has Arvind Swami playing MG Ramachandran and has music by GV Prakash. The film is scheduled to release in 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
