Arvind Swami to lock horns with STR in Maanadu
Though Venkat Prabhu’s Maanadu was announced a year ago, the project didn’t take off as the makers claimed that the protagonist of the film, STR, failed to cooperate and was reluctant to give dates for the film. However, now it looks like the issue has been sorted out and the pre-production work is progressing at a brisk pace.

Recently, there were reports that Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep has been confirmed to play the villain in the film. However, now, the actor himself took to his social media page and refuted it as rumours.
The latest we hear is that actor Arvind Swami has been approached for the same role and the actor, too, has agreed to be a part of the film. A source in the know of things says, “It’s true that Venkat Prabhu initially narrated the script to Sudeep. However, he couldn’t be a part of the project due to date issues. That’s when Venkat Prabhu decided to approach Arvind Swamy for the same role. Arvind was quite impressed with his characterisation and immediately agreed to work in the film. An official announcement will be made once the actor completes shooting for Kanagana Ranaut’s Thalaivi.”
We also hear that major portions of Maanadu will be shot in Malaysia and Singapore. “The team is planning to fly Malaysia in January along with the entire cast and crew,” the source adds. Kalyani Priyadarshan, who made her debut in Tamil with Sivakarthikeyan’s Hero, will play the female lead.
