The teaser of Suriya’s much-awaited flick, Soorarai Pottru, was released on January 7 and it went on to become a huge hit among his fans.

Even before its release, the director of the film, Sudha Kongara, revealed that the film is loosely inspired from the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of budget airline Air Decaan.

Though the shoot of the film was wrapped up in December 2019, we hear from reliable sources that the makers still have patch work, which requires them to rent an aircraft, yet again.

A source close to the unit reveals that since Soorarai Pottru is about the life of an ambitious pilot, the director had to rent an aircraft to shoot major portions of the film. “Suriya spent about Rs 47 lakhs per day to rent an aircraft.

The team shot almost a couple of weeks inside the aircraft, which indeed increased the budget of the film,” the source says.

“The makers have a couple of scenes to be shot and they are in the process of renting an aircraft again. Suriya is quite confident about the script and he wants everything to be perfect.”

Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, the film marks the southern debut of Oscar-Award winning Bollywood producer Guneet Monga, who will be co-producing this project.

Suriya, who plays the role of a pilot officer Nedumaran Rajangam in the film, was seen sporting two different looks in the teaser — one with a long hair and another with a crew cut.
