Post the release of Bollywood thriller Andhadhun, which bagged three awards at the 66th edition of National Awards, there were reports that Dhanush or Siddharth would reprise Ayushmann Khuranna in the Tamil remake of the film. However, director-actor Thiagarajan surprised the audience with an announcement that his production house has bagged the remake rights of the film and will cast his son Prashanth in the lead role.

Now, we hear that the pre-production work of the film is progressing at a brisk pace and makers have apparently roped in acclaimed director Mohan Raja to direct the Tamil version of the film. A source close to the film’s unit says, “Initially, the makers of the film approached Gautham Menon to helm the project. However, the director couldn’t take it up due to other commitments. Now, they have initiated talks with Mohan Raja, who is known for successfully remaking many Telugu films in Tamil. An official announcement will be made in the coming weeks.” We also hear that Prashanth, who is reprising Ayushmann Khuranna’s role, is currently in Malaysia to tone down his body. He has apparently shed 20 kilos for the role already. Prashanth is a trained piano player and his skills should come in handy to play the role of a blind piano player. The actor is also working on another film which will be directed by A Venkatesh.
