Singer Chinmayi Sripada wrote, “It has taken more than 7 years to deliver the justice that Nirbhaya’s mother waited for. She had to take on the naysayers, who said, ‘She is creating a publicity stunt by meeting the media quite often ’. If anyone has plodded on, it is she that has. She has spoken. And I wish she continues to speak. I want us all to take a hard look at ourselves, our friends and family that shamed a woman for being gang-raped, and questioned women for staying out late at nights’... I saw similar conversations during Swati’s murder case and in Disha’s rape too. Women indulged in character shaming.”
Actor Karthi said, “Finally, justice for Nirbhaya after eight years. Wondering how long it will take for the Pollachi case to find justice. It’s been a year already. Hope we don’t forget the lessons we learned from it.”
Actor Prasanna said, “Nirbhaya will rest in peace. May the lesson be learnt and may our women live in peace with respect and dignity.”
Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar wrote, “Nirbhaya was raped, brutally tortured and she died a fighter. 7 years it took our justice system to get these animals hung when they took less than 7 minutes to ruin her life. At least now death penalty for rape should be given when the crime has been committed.”
