In a major surprise for K’Town, reports have been circulating that acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam is all set to make his debut as a director and a producer for a web series. According to reports, Mani’s Madras Talkies will helm this project titled Navarasa and is said to have nine episodes. Some reports claimed that each episode will be led by different directors including Gautham Menon, Arvind Swami and Bejoy Nambiar with Mani Ratnam himself directing one episode.
When DT Next reached out to Madras Talkies, they said, “These are mere speculations. Nothing has been confirmed as of now. If it happens, an official announcement shall be made.” The news comes at a time when there have also been reports that said Mani’s Ponniyin Selvan had been shelved and the director will work on another film. However, such claims were quickly denied by the production team.
The filmmaker has become the talk of the movie industry ever since he started working on his magnum opus that has Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, among others, in crucial roles.
