Many celebrities have been sharing their fitness videos on social media. However, Vidyullekha Raman’s transformation journey through her pictures have won adulation and have been called ‘inspiring’. “In fact, their comments on my posts inspired me to deliver my best. I started focusing on fitness since January 2019 after I couldn’t wear the dress I badly wanted to. It just didn’t fit and I was disappointed,” begins Vidyullekha. The actress says that there’s more to it.
“I also had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which is prevalent among women. For those with PCOS, it is quite difficult to lose weight,” she begins. Vidyullekha says that she weighed 86kg in January last year. “I am also a foodie. I crave for pizzas, biryanis and burgers every other day. It was my doctor, who gave me a rude awakening saying the kind of complications I had been going through was because of my overweight. It was certainly a wakeup call. Before that I used to get annoyed everytime anyone told me to be conscious of what I eat and my weight,” she opens up. Since then Vidyullekha adhered to a strict diet and workout regime. “I started eating healthy. I was on a ketogenic diet and lost six kilos.
After that I lost another six kilos as well with workouts,” says the actress. That is when she was diagnosed for gall bladder stones. “I was frustrated when the doctor told me that I had to get surgery done to remove the stones and that I won’t be able to work-out for a couple of months. This happened in January this year. I gained 4 kilos before March. During the lockdown, I worked out six times a week and have lost 6 kgs. I’m now weigh 68 kilos and will reach my target weight of 60 kilos soon,” she says with confidence. Vidyullekha brushed off talk about her weight loss efforts to bag a movie role. That was never in my plans. All I want is to do good character roles that will have an impact. I have a couple of Telugu projects in the pipeline and another Tamil project too, which will be completed post lockdown,” she concludes.
