“We have taken this in a very serious manner and have urged the people at the helm to censor digital content. Web series content does not have any control now. At the end of the day, our country is known for its strong cultural values and our OTT content is in contrast to it. Filmmakers need to draw a line in their freedom of expression and not abuse the privilege,” he told DT Next. There are other plans as well for the road ahead. “I have put forth several proposals to the government out of which one is the production of small budget films that can put Indian film industry on the global pedestal once we resume shoots.

NFDC will fund small films with an impactful content, which is the need of the hour. We will show the world that we can make films of international standards,” added Rajesh.

Rajesh revealed that NFDC is working on a few proposals on the theatrical front as well. “Though I cannot reveal what I have proposed to the government, I can say with confidence that producers and distributors will be benefitted through the plan. There will be more transparency in the system in which cinema functions and will bring revenue to the government,” he concluded.
