Ilayaraja, who has been a renowned music composer has over 40 years of experience working in this industry. But in recent times, the musician is being caught in the midst of various controversies. From claiming royalty for his own compositions to slamming other composers for using his songs in their movies, he has been making headlines for various reasons.
Now it's the long happening feud between the composer and LV Prasad Studios, that has created a spur. Ilayaraja has filed a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chennai, against LV Prasad Studios and its Managing Director Sai Prasad alleging that his musical instruments were tampered.
It all began when the current management of the Prasad Studios headed by Sai Prasad, grandson of late L V Prasad, decided to renovate the campus and issued a notice to Ilayaraja to vacate the premises and hand over the studio, which he had been using since 1976. The legal battle of the same is still pending with the Madras High Court.
Now, the latest report is that Ilayaraja has lodged a formal legal complaint against the Prasad Studios.
According to sources, Ilayaraja has stated in his complaint, "I reliably learnt that in recent days, the respondents through their men have broken open even my personal room in the suit premise and have removed all my valuable materials kept thereon. I have kept all my valuable composition notes, several musical instruments, my personal belongings of day to day usage, etc... I have learnt through my known circle that the said Sai Prasad, with his men has been removing, stealing and damaging many of my belongings and articles which worth several crores."
It is to be noted that towards the end of last year, Director Bharathiraja and others, held talks with Prasad Studio authorities, and placed a request to allow Ilayaraja to continue composing in the same premises for a while until the film fraternity themselves arrange a suitable studio for the Maestro.
