Veteran Film Director Bharathirajaa has called SPB's fans and music lovers across the globe for a mass prayer meet on August 20 at 6pm, for his quick recovery.

Film fraternities to join hands for a mass prayer meet for SPB's wellness

Veteran director Bharathiraja in a press release said that actors, actresses, directors, musicians, FEFSI members, producers, theatre-owners, distributors and fans across the globe will play veteran singer S P Balasubrahmanyam’s songs at 6 pm on 20 August at their respective places and pray for his speedy recovery.

Bharathiraja in his statement said, “In Indian cinema, thanks to his mesmerising voice and mastery in various languages, one voice that has been breathlessly singing melodies soothing our hearts is that of SPB.  Today, we are in tears to know that he is affected by Covid-19. It is heart-wrenching to see film personalities, politicians, people from various walks of lives and the general public in sorrow hearing about SPB’s health condition”.

He added, “SPB knows only to sow seeds of love. He is a wonderful artiste. He should be back amongst us soon. We will get him back. Let’s all pray mother nature to give SPB back to us”.

According to the press release, Music directors Ilayaraja and AR Rahman, Lyricist Vairamuthu and Actors Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan were among others who would be joining the virtual prayer meet.

Bharathiraja further said a similar mass prayer was held by the film personalities when former CM of TamilNadu MGR was sick and the prayers were answered too.

There were huge response for the director's call for prayer meet in the social media. Posts and calls with  #GetWellSoonSPBSir can be seen trending in social media, by the legendary singer's fans and music lovers.

Actor- Director Parthiban, Director Murugadoss and Music Director GV Prakash also announced that they join the cause.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, in a video message on his official Instagram handle, SP Charan, son of  SPB had said his father's condition remains the same as the day before. He also junked the rumours claiming that SPB has been taken out of the ventilator.
