“I am glad that the role resonated with the people immediately. I was excited to work with a director like Prakash Jha. And when he narrated me the character, I wasn’t looking for any references. He was my only reference and I went by what he wanted from me,” Anupria told DT Next. The actress, who has been a part of films like War and Padmaavat among others said that Aashram is a brave subject. “Subjects like these are sensitive and aren’t touched upon regularly. Such stories need to be told to people. I don’t remember a script that was made on a godman and people’s belief on him in the recent past. People love to watch such content,” she added.
Anupria is out of lockdown blues and has begun shooting. “I am happy to be back at work and have been shooting with necessary social distancing norms in effect on the sets,” she added. Having made her debut with Telugu film Pottugadu and Paathshala, she has been predominantly cast in Bollywood flicks in the last few years. “I haven’t got any offers from south after Paathshala and a few I landed weren’t substantial. Of late, south film industries are faring better with great content. Bollywood has started looking up at content from the south, especially, Malayalam and Tamil. I would love to be a part of them in near future,” she sums up.
