Vijay, Perarasu likely to unite after 15 years for Thalapathy 65

In a twist and turn of events, Vijay 65 is likely to be directed by Perarasu, who had previously collaborated with the actor for blockbusters like Thirupachi and Sivakasi (both 2005). While AR Murugadoss was finalised as the director, he apparently walked out of the film due to remuneration issues.

A source in the know told DT Next, “Sun Pictures couldn’t offer the salary demanded by Murugadoss and the director opted himself out of the project. While directors like Magizh Thirumeni, Hari, and Mohan Raja were in contention to direct Vijay 65, Perarasu’s script seemed to suit Vijay at this point in time. Magizh Thirumeni has moved on to direct Udhayanidhi and Mohan Raja is busy with the pre-production of Thani Oruvan 2. However, Vijay is in no hurry to shoot now and the film will go on floors only in February 2021. Hence, he is open to listening scripts and an official announcement will be made if it’s Perarasu who will be confirmed as the director or will there be another change in the coming days.”
