Actor Sivakarthikeyan files petition against Gnanavel Raja in HC
Actor Sivakarthikeyan on Monday approached the Madras High Court against film producer Gnanavelraja for not paying the salary due to former for acting in the Tamil film Mr Local produced by him.
According to the petitioner, he and the respondent had agreed in 2017-2018 as the producer promised to pay Rs 15 crore as salary to the actor.
"Gnanavelraja had paid Rs 11 crore of salary and he did not pay the remaining due till now. The producer had also not remitted the Tax Deducting at the Source (TDS). Therefore, IT had slapped a notice this February," the petitioner added.
He further wanted a direction to restrain the producer from releasing three of his upcoming projects Chiyaan61, Pathu Thala and Rebel.
"Since the respondent has to pay Rs 4 crores. The court should injunct him from exercising his rights regarding the business of his upcoming movies in means of distributing, transferring rights for release on scree and OTT," Sivakarthikeyan mentioned.
Justice M Sundar is to hear this petition on Thursday.
