Whistle podu! Dhoni to produce films with Vijay, Mahesh in likely lead

CHENNAI: Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to hit the silver screen in the south, producing movies. The former Indian World Cup-winning captain is also planning to rope in some of the big names in the industry, including Vijay and Mahesh Babu.

Apart from Thalapathy Vijay and Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, others on Dhoni’s radar are Kiccha Sudheepa and Prithviraj from Kannada and Malayalam film industries respectively.

There were earlier rumours that Dhoni will be producing a film with Nayanthara in the lead role. However, he met Vijay earlier this year and discussed a potential project. Sources in Tinseltown say it could be Thalapathy 70 for which the actor would team up with Mahi as 7 is the cricketer’s lucky number.

Though sources close to Vijay have ruled out such a discussion, people in CSK circles say, “The movie will be produced under his banner Dhoni Entertainment Limited which is being run by his wife Sakshi Singh. The team is currently in search of setting up a proper office in the heart of Chennai as they will be listening to stories from various filmmakers. Apart from Tamil, the talks with stars in other industries are at an early stage.” Meanwhile, Vijay is currently shooting for ‘Varisu’ directed by Vamsi Paidipally. He will be teaming up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for his next and again with director Atlee for his 68th film that will be produced by AGS Entertainment.
