I had the song ready in a day’s time, says Vaisagh on working on the album

All the credits go to Sandy Master. He directed and choreographed the song. The moment he heard it he said that if we had a circus vibe to the song it would be apt.

CHENNAI: Vaisagh’s latest album Edhuvum Kedaikalana featuring Sandy Master and GP Muthu is set to launch today at Phoenix Marketcity. In conversation with DT Next, Vaisagh talks about the production process of the album, working with Sandy Master and GP Muthu and other projects.

The last time we spoke you mentioned that you had a lot of projects lined up. Since then, what has changed for you in terms of work?

Well, I had been working on the album for quite some time now and finally have materialised it. The team and I have been looking after the production process of our other singles. People recognise my work and I’m getting several offers, all of which will be announced soon (smiles).

Talking about your album Edhuvum Kedaikalana featuring Sandy Master and GP Muthu, how long did the production process take?

Right after we wrapped up with the shoot of Kaaka Kadhai in the month of June, I began working on the scratch of my album Edhuvum Kedaikalana. I sent it to Think Indie Music and they were impressed with the scratch. They sent it to Sandy Master and he got in touch with us saying he wanted to be a part of this project. In the month of August, the project took off and we began working on the production and post-production.

Did you already have songs banked for the album?

Actually, after we wrapped up the music video for Kaaka Kadhai, Think asked me if I had something interesting to offer. In a haste or if you would call it confidence, I told them that I would send them a scratch the next day. I had the song ready in a day’s time. We did have to make additional changes, but most of it was done.

The promo video of Edhuvum Kedaikalana had a very quirky vibe. Did you give inputs for the video?

All the credits go to Sandy Master. He directed and choreographed the song. The moment he heard it he said that if we had a circus vibe to the song it would be apt. He discussed his ideas for the song and involved me as much as he could during the making of the video. I’m very grateful to Sandy Master for the way the video has come out.

How did the idea of including ‘nakku’, a phrase GP Muthu is associated with, in the song occur to you?

I was on Instagram scrolling through the reels and thought if I included this somewhere in the song it would be really very amusing. We did that and we approached GP Muthu sir to feature in the video. He was very nervous on set but wrapped up his part in less than five minutes. It was very kind of him to be a part of this project.

He is not going to be there at the launch. Did you look forward to him being there?

His Bigg Boss announcement was unexpected. I was very excited and was looking forward to him being there at the launch. The team and I will definitely miss him.

How excited do you think your fans are about the album?

(laughs) I hope they are really excited because I’m eager to know if they love it the same way they did my other songs.
