The woman had allegedly killed her son in Chennai, but managed to take his body to Pattukottai to carry out the funeral without the police’s knowledge. But, the Pattukkottai police came to know about it and handed over the couple and the child’s body to the Ambattur police.
Even as the district police made it easier for the Chennai police, the inspector handling the case was not particularly happy as the Pattukkottai police had handed over the body without conducting a post-mortem examination.
When this reporter called her to get some clarification on the culpable homicide, the furious officer ended up shouting at him. Although flustered, the reporter managed to be patient until the inspector calmed down.
She said that they have unnecessarily been burdened as they had to send the child’s body for the post mortem examination in the city. “Whichever police station comes to know about an unnatural death first should carry out the post mortem in the nearby government hospital,” said the officer.
