Reporters who went to attend a press conference called by Puthiya Tamilagam leader, Krishnasamy, were in for a shock when he lost his cool and asked a reporter his caste and hometown.
Krishnasamy had faced a humiliating defeat in Tenkasi constituency, and had called the media at his party office in Chennai, expecting the reporters to use whatever information he chose to share as news. But, what the leader did not expect were questions his successive defeat in the recent elections in Tenkasi and Ottapidaram constituency.
He tried to evade the questions initially, but eventually lost his temper and started shouting at the reporters. His ire was directed squarely at one journalist who had repeatedly been shooting questions at him. Krishnasamy was joined by his supporters who intervened and began to question the integrity of the scribes.
In a state which has seen parties openly vouch for support from particular castes, this episode sticks out like a sore thumb. But it was not a bad day for everyone, meme creators were quick to pick up the content and had a field day sharing jokes on Krishnasamy on social media.
