The housing complex of the Tamil Nadu All India Service Officers Housing Association at Virugambakkam has joined the elite league of localities – Greenways Road, Poes Garden and Gopalapuram – that enjoy uninterrupted power supply in the city. With IAS and IPS officers owning flats in the Tamil Nadu Housing Board developed property at Natesan Nagar in Virugambakkam, a substation was built opposite to the complex within a record time. Thanks to the substation with two back feedings, the locality would hardly face any interruption in power at all.

Two years after the housing complex’s opening, the face of the locality witnessed a drastic change. The Natesan Nagar third main road that leads to the complex was widened after removing the footpaths. Now a traffic policeman stands at the junction of the third main road and the Kaliamman Koil Street to regulate the traffic. No vehicles were allowed to be parked along the road while anyone wandering around the road would be chased away by the police.

And what’s the cost of living in a place with uninterrupted power supply, abundant availability of water and good security, you ask? It’s only around Rs 45,000 per month, if you want to rent one of the flats at the complex.
