Immediately after shocking information about impersonation in NEET emerged, memes started pouring in, pointing out how there were impersonators in Tamil cinema even before NEET was introduced.
One of them that started doing the rounds on social media had a photo of Kamal Haasan and ‘Crazy’ Mohan as early NEET impersonators, referring to their roles in the hit film Vasool Raja MBBS.
Some of them dug even deeper, and said the duo is next only to the Sivaji Ganesan and Nagesh who tried their hands at impersonation way back in 1965 in the film Thiruvilaiyadal. In the movie, poet Darumi (played by Nagesh) goes to meet the king with the poem written by Sivaji Ganesan to win prize – but gets caught as he could not answer the court poet’s questions.
Comedian Vadivelu, the darling of meme creators, also found himself in the midst of memes, with one showing him as a doctor who charges twice the fee, saying that he has to give half of it to his impersonator because of whom he became a doctor.
