N Subraj (27), Sports store employee
Though my family is originally from Thanjavur district, we have lived in many States of the country as my father was in the Army. I came to Chennai in search of a job after completing my college education. Though I have tried to work in other states, too, I felt the most comfortable in Chennai and that is why I stayed back here. I have been in the city for four years now but I feel like it’s my home town. After completing higher education, I started working in shipping and travelled to other countries also. However, I left that job because of personal issues and joined an IT job. But I had to quit that, too. I started travelling because I was not sure what kind of job I wanted to do. Now, I work at a sports store and manage my finances with the minimal amount I have. For me, travelling is like a sport and I wanted to meet like-minded people. That is why I joined the sports store. Apart from my father, I have mother and two siblings in the family. My brother is a farmer. I want to travel to other places and write about them. But my parents and relatives haven’t approved my choices. For the same reason, I have lost touch with my family.
