Chennai

Ihad been working as a fitness trainer for three years and I did not expect to open a gym, but have been successfully running it for more than 10 years now.

Every business faces competition without which we cannot evolve. But, the reason we have been doing well is because of our uniqueness. I continue to train the clients instead of only monitoring the work of the trainers.

The most challenging task in my business is handling clients, because we have different types of them and have to be patient while handling them. If we get angry, they will move to another gym. Also, if a trainer makes a mistake, clients drag the name of the gym down as well.

That’s why before beginning with the training, we analyse the clients’ health and train them accordingly. Since, I have experience in this field, it is relatively easy to overcome these challenges.

In the beginning, I struggled a lot financially to start the gym, and there was no support from my family because when we say the word “body building” they automatically begin to imagine that I will eventually either become a bodyguard or act in movies as a villain. There is not much awareness about body building.

This is also a lot of work. My business has been keeping me so busy that it is only in the last two years that I have been able to spend time with family.
