Reporter’s Diary: Did TikTok video lead to IAS official’s transfer?

The transfer order came recently, and it was a shocker because this particular IAS officer was said to be very close to the Minister of his department and he had held the post of MD for almost two years.

According to sources in the Secretariat, the reason behind this officer’s transfer were TikTok videos where he was crooning some romantic numbers, which by itself may not have been a problem, but what led to his ‘downfall’ were visuals of a woman dancing alongside. A person who is a close aide of the officer circulated the videos among the IAS officers, and before long they found their way to the desk (or rather phone) of the Chief Minister. One hears that EPS, who is already very concerned about the public image of his team, was not happy with the videos and directed the Chief Secretary to issue transfer order.

While a few supporters of the officer claim that he was a victim of a bigger conspiracy by some politicians who wanted him out of the way for rejecting a tender, the rumours unfortunately still persist that it was his singing hobby that derailed his career.
