One such was when senior DMK leader Duraimurugan raised his voice for his regular evening cuppa and obtained an assurance from Chief Minister K Palaniswami that he would get snacks as well.

Since the session was curtailed to three days, day two saw the debate on the Governor’s speech extending to evening hours. Duraimurugan came half an hour after the session commenced at 5 pm, and was pleasantly surprised to see the session going on in full throttle. As the session progressed, many MLAs could be seen demanding coffee. Duraimurugan was upset at coffee not being served and at one point interrupted the debate to demand Speaker P Dhanapal to ensure that he gets his regular cuppa. As the House went into splits, Duraimurugan said that instead of coffee, members are being served hot water. Even as a smiling Speaker tried to pacify Duraimurugan, the CM intervened to assure Duraimurugan that from next session, not just good coffee even snacks would be served. As Duraimurugan regained his composure, the House got back into business.
